Alright, I understand that we still can’t move on from the biggest football party in the Universe: World Cup 2014 that took place in Brazil for the whole month. Germany was definitely a total stunner who brought back the golden trophy for the 4th time after 24 years waiting (that’s quite a time!) from their latest victory in 1990.
I am obviously not a sporty person so I promise you this won’t be a post about those matches analysis like how the heck Spain, England, and Italy didn’t pass the Group Stage or that god-damn German massacre to Brazil with 7-1 result. This is gonna be about a very interesting thing that some people might just forget.
Let me start with this:
World Cup 2022 Indonesia Logo
“HAHAHA. So funny! who made that delusional logo. That is never gonna happen forever.”
If you are really thinking about saying that, then you are: mean because that’s not a nice thing to say; racist because you think that a third-world country can’t host world cup; and stupid because you don’t realize that the logo is actually exist and official!
Yes, as the matter of fact, Indonesia announced their candidacy to join world cup host bidding for 2022. Alongside Australia, England, Japan, Qatar, Russia, South Korea, United States, the joint bid of Spain & Portugal and the joint bid of Belgium & Netherlands for 2018 and 2022. Unfortunately, Indonesia was disqualified due to lack of the government’s support while Mexico withdrew its candidacy.
“So if they were disqualified, why did they have the logo already?”
Why don’t we take a look on these:
Netherlands & Belgium, Spain & Portugal, England (2018)
USA, Korea, Japan, Australia (2022)
If there’s any of you have seen these before, raise your hand! (No, you with the black t-shirt, put your hands down you liar!)
We knew that the hosts for both World Cups were announced by the FIFA Executive Committee on December 2, 2010. Russia was selected to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup, making it the first time that the World Cup will be hosted in Eastern Europe and making it the biggest country geographically to host the World Cup. Qatar was selected to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, making it the first time a World Cup will be held in the Middle East and the second time in Asia. Also, the decision made it the smallest country geographically to host the World Cup.
But we didn’t knew that if it was not Russia 2018 or Qatar 2022, the logo of other candidates of if they won the host bid would be just like those on the above! (Spain & Portugal would be so lovely for 2018, IMO!)
Yeah, apparently all countries who are willing to join the bid should have their own logo as well. See these past host candidates too:
Egypt (2010), England and South Africa (2006)
Look, they all had the ball picture as the main design, so original! (yeah, it’s sarcasm in case you don’t understand).
Besides those official bidding Logos, if you just search in the internet, you can just find the unofficial logos of possible future hosts since we know that the registration hasn’t been opened yet. Some of them are actually really cool.
China, Spain, India, Ireland, India again, Philippines, Colombia (2026), and Uruguay, Indonesia (2030)
I can smell the spirit of young designers here. Anybody wants to make their own version? Come and show me!
You can use these actual host logos throughout the years as the reference
